Day 1: Arrival & Scenic Transfer to Oldoinyo Lengai

Your journey begins with a transfer to the base of Oldoinyo Lengai, where you’ll settle into your accommodation nestled amidst the Great Rift Valley’s dramatic scenery.

Spend the afternoon acclimatizing and exploring the area, taking in panoramic views of the volcanic peaks and Lake Natron’s flamingo-filled shores. A pre-trek briefing will prepare you for the thrilling climb ahead, ensuring you’re well-equipped for the adventure.

Rise before midnight to begin your steep and demanding ascent under the dazzling African night sky. The challenging climb takes you through rugged volcanic ridges and loose ash trails, leading to the 2,962m (9,718 ft) summit just in time for a breathtaking sunrise.

Witness active lava vents, stunning crater formations, and panoramic views of the Great Rift Valley, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Lake Natron. After soaking in the surreal landscape, begin your careful descent back to base, where a delicious meal and well-earned rest await you.

Enjoy a slow morning of relaxation, taking in the serene landscapes or exploring the Lake Natron basin. If time allows, visit a Maasai village to experience their unique way of life before embarking on your scenic return journey.

Depart with unforgettable memories of standing atop the Mountain of God, a true adventure for the soul.
