This 7-day trekking adventure follows the scenic Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola Route,”The journey takes you through diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to the alpine desert, before reaching the iconic Uhuru Peak at 5,895m (19,341 ft).
Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, acclimatization hikes, and a rewarding summit experience. The descent provides a chance to reflect on the incredible achievement before returning to Arusha for a well-deserved celebration.

Day by Day
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Transfer to Arusha (55 km / 1 hour)
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our professional driver and experienced mountain guide will greet you. You will then be transferred to your reserved hotel in Arusha, where you can relax and prepare for the upcoming adventure.
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Altitude: 6,046 ft to 8,858 ft
Distance: 8 km
Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Marangu Gate, where registration and trekking formalities take place. The trail winds through dense rainforest, home to blue monkeys and abundant birdlife. As the vegetation transitions, scenic hillsides emerge before reaching Mandara Hut.
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Altitude: 8,858 ft to 12,205 ft
Distance: 12 km
Hiking Time: 6-8 hours
Habitat: Heath Zone
The ascent continues through lush forest before transitioning to an open moorland landscape. As you gain elevation, breathtaking views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks come into sight. This trek concludes at Horombo Hut, where you will rest and acclimatize.
Day 4: Acclimatization at Horombo Hut
Altitude: 12,205 ft
Today is a designated acclimatization day to help your body adjust to the altitude. You may take a short trek to Zebra Rocks or simply relax at the hut while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Altitude: 12,205 ft to 15,430 ft
Distance: 10 km
Hiking Time: 6-8 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
The journey continues with a gradual ascent across the rocky alpine desert, passing through the vast and desolate “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, take time to rest, hydrate, and prepare for the demanding summit push.
Day 6: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Altitude: 15,430 ft to 19,341 ft (Summit) then back to 12,205 ft
Distance: 22 km
Hiking Time: 10-13 hours
Habitat: Arctic
Your summit attempt begins around midnight. A slow, steady climb up steep switchbacks leads to Gilman’s Point, followed by a final push along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating your achievement and taking in the breathtaking views, descend back to Horombo Hut for some well-earned rest.
Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate – Return to Arusha
Altitude: 12,205 ft to 6,046 ft
Distance: 20 km
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
The final trek descends through the rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to your trekking crew. A vehicle will transfer you back to Arusha for a celebratory evening.
